Spotlight on TADHack Colombia 2022

Thank you to the amazing team at Yeapp! for making TADHack Colombia 2022 possible, especially Gabriel Rengifo and Daniela Granada. This is the 6th year of TADHack Popayán / Colombia. We’re proud of all they have achieved, it is truly world-class.

Its lovely to see the progress of the people involved in TADHack Colombia / Popayán:

  • Congratulations to Maritza Mera Gaona on her Doctor of Telematics Engineering with a Laureate thesis in 2022. Maritza represented location sponsor Microsoft at TADHack Popayan 2020.
  • In 2021 Camilo Segura became a React & NodeJS Junior Developer at IT Consultores S.A.S.. He is a TADHack winner (Popayán) from 2018 with Dnuncia by RM5 using Status, an excellent hack.
  • In 2020  ANDRES MACA became a Software Engineer at VeriTran, a TADHack Popayán winner with Dnuncia by RM5.

TADHack Popayán / Colombia is now in its 6th year. You can see all the hacks from 20172018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 in these playlists, and some of the photos in the picture below. Colombia has produced global winners every year, with impressive hacks that received special commendation from the global sponsors. TADHack Colombia / Popayán is a great example of how high tech skills and innovative talent are everywhere, not just in the Bay Area.

Highlighting a few of the 2021 hacks:

coffelytics by Nicolas Calderon, Federico Calderon, and Angie Canchon. Make life easier for farmers by giving them tools to improve their skills, bring the producer and the final consumer closer together and standardize and technify the coffee production chain with transparency.

OrigenCAFE – Rapture – Julian Gutiérrez, Maria Juliana Marin, AndresGonzalez, Johan Sebastian. Web system that allows coffee producers to see information about consumers who buy their products, and coffee consumers to learn more about the people behind this process.

HackieMe by Juan Sebastián Caldon Fernández. MOCAPP is a mobile application that will allow you to further explore the origin of the product you are consuming. This will be done by scanning a QR code that will be found on the coffee packaging, where you can access specific data such as the name of the producer, location geographical location of the coffee plantation and images of it, etc.

Highlighting a few of the 2020 hacks:

Go Text Connection from GPT: Cristian Gómez, Brayan Mamian, Jonathan Ibarra, and Tania Cañizares. A platform that facilitates communication between people who require access to a service (eg. education or health) and the entities that offer it.

Mobile-fup from Andres Hurtado, Miller Olaya, Cristian Ordoñez. Mobile application for the automation and optimization of the production of medicinal cannabis in the greenhouse. An application designed to automate resources for the production of cannabis in the greenhouse where the system, based on the stages of development of medicinal cannabis, adapts the conditions of the greenhouse according to the stage of the cultivation.

ROUT APP from team HackMie: Juan Sebastian Caldon Fernandez. Mobile application that allows people from the region and foreigners to guide themselves in the city of Popayan Colombia, since there is no tool that allows easy access to public transport routes.

Highlighting a few of the 2019 hacks:

Universal help network by Brayan Mamian, Jonathan Ibarra, Cristian Gòmez, Tania Cañizares. Is a network that connects users and specialists to solve their needs on information or specialized advice. Used for users to request information needs and, on the other hand, specialists who take the information request and resolve it, the requests can be complemented through multimedia resources. example: a user consults: “”my puppy got sick and has the following symptoms …”” and the specialist takes the request and answers about possible diagnoses”. Won Telesign Global Prize and Location Prize.

Helpme by Daniel Andrés Alean Mera, Cristhian Alejandro Cañar Muñoz, David Argote, Jhonatan Mariaca, and Edwin Hair Hidalgo. Help the homeless to improve the quality of life, through a donation network of people and foundations. The app publishes the photo and location of the homeless with a short story so that they can help them. Won Location Prize.

Id_Park by Sebastian Caldon, Valentina vásquez, Juan Benavides,
James Tumbaqui Toro. They’re solving parking slot problem, using location to find the available spots and trustable. The quotas separation is done through payment methods. Won Location Prize.

Highlighting a few of the 2018 hacks:

TechTeamCo by Andrea, Sebastian, Giovanni, Camila, David using Telestax. Geolocation system in catastrophe situations to rescue people using USSD or SMS. Then use the data for analysis and prevention of future catastrophes. Won Location Prize and Telestax Global winner.

R+ by Susana, Julián, Camilo using Temasys. Implementation of augmented reality to an online multiplayer game with 3D features, they used the temays sdk to enable the online multiplayer features. Won Location Prize.

DoctorNowTeam by Fabian, Camilo, Manuel, Javier using Temasys. Delay in appointment management with medical specialists in remote zones, it’s a web platform that allows to connect patients with specialists, It uses Temasys for video calls and messaging for communication in order to facilitate communication from remote or rural places to provide health services, through telehealth. Won Location Prize.

RM5— Juan Daza, Camilo Segura, Mauricio Maca —app to capture student marches, document abuses and connect people with legal help.  Here is a great weblog by the team describing their hack. The  Dnuncia Platform that won the Status Global Prize. Yet another Global winner from Popayán 🙂
