TADHack Teens Sri Lanka: Review and Plans

In 2021 TADHack Global, the world’s largest telecom / communications hackathon since 2014, returned to Sri Lanka with TADHack Sri Lanka organized by hSenid Mobile in partnership with Ideamart.

For the first time in Sri Lanka, parallel to the main event, was TADHack Teens Sri Lanka 2021, which was dedicated to school age teenagers from around the island.

TADHack Teens Sri Lanka 2021, was an unprecedented success, as reported in the DailyFT in SriLanka. The event included participation of school principals, teachers, students, as well as parents of students in various capacities during different stages of the event. In the lead up to the main event there were several webinars and ‘Learn to Code’ sessions.

There were over 150 registrations and 19 teams participating in the Teens event, of which six were shortlisted for the final stage. The bronze medal was won by Sayuri Wimalasiri, Nethaya Gunathilake, Thathsara Indrapathma, Kevin Dissanayake, Tharuki Piyathilake representing Lyceum International – Anuradhapura for ‘Team CoveID.’ The silver medal was won by Pemsara Bodhipaksha and Hiruksha Rajapaksha representing Ranabima Royal College – Kandy for ‘Team AI Flood Warning.’ The gold medal recipients were Yashen Ariyathilake, Dedutnu Udakotuwage from the same institution for ‘Team E-Slate.’

Given the event’s success, TADHack Teens Sri Lanka is now a template for other TADHack locations around the world for TADHack Global 2022. At the TADHack Teens Sri Lanka website you can see the webinars, weblogs, and timeline of the event. Working with hSenid Mobile, we plan to use their experience to help other locations unlock the power of teenage innovation. And most importantly allow teenagers from locations around the world to share their hackathon experiences and compete in TADHack Teens Global.

And congratulations to the TADHack Teens Sri Lanka organizing team for their excellent work.
